IskandarWorld: Day 2: OGDC Discovery Camp

Day 2: 7 December 2007. Venue: Pantai Muara & OGDC

Last nite was a bit chaotic..the rain was pretty heavy (usual for during the monsoon season) we only have battery charged lantern to brighten the nite. Really proud with the campers - able to endured the harsh reality of life..no moaning or complaining esp. about the toilets. This is what I called 'personal victory'. "Life is always a challenge - if you cant endure a small challenge in life then it will be difficulty to live life as it is "

My deepest appreciation to JASTRE - Pantai Muara for their support for us to used Pantai Muara as our camp site.

The Datalish team did an excellent job in building confidence and creating a harmonious spirit amongst team work members. This was clearly shown - from last nite performance.

Day 2 - Programmes

5.00am - Sembahyang Subuh

7.00am - Morning Exercise

7.30am - Breakfast/shower

8.30am - Morning activities (Beach soccer)

12.00noon - Depart to OGDC/Friday prayer

2.00pm - Arrive at OGDC

4.00pm - Sports (Beach soccer/Volley Ball)

7.00pm - Dinner/Magrib prayer

8.30pm - Nite Walk @Exhibition Hall - Enhancing Leadership skills & Team work

11.00pm - End of Activity

At last all the 'kids' are back home (OGDC....) what a *relief!*..give 'em time for rest and then start fresh with new activities. Every year there's always headache - campers reporting on missing personal items. Campers came to me and said;

"Uncle - Uncle sleeping bag ku tinggal di pantai muara"
" .....slippar ku tinggal dalam bus..."
"....boleh pinjam telephone kan telephone my sister ...minta ambilkan kasut ku di pantai muara.."

.....but fortunately we managed to find some of the stuffs allegedly reported missing.

Nite Walk @ The Exhibition Hall - Enchancing Leadership skills & Team Work

Each group need to navigate their way (via a string) out of the Exhibition Hall. Campers are blind folded (lights are switch-off to create a black hole effect). A leader was chosen by the team to lead them. The leader must communicate to his/her team on any obstacles....

The objectives of the exercise are;
- on how to communicate
- what it takes to be a leader & what are the challenges
- team work

I ended the activity with a feedback session and few words of advice
